Nutrition requirements and feeding schedules for baby?

Ace mama asked:

I am wondering if anyone has some good resources where I can find information about nutritional requirements, such as daily values for vitamins, fats, protein etc. And also what ages/stages these requirements change. My son is only six months, so he is just beginning solids, but I am looking for something comprehensive that I can consult through toddlerhood at least. I prefer an internet source, but am open to good book recommendations. 10 points to best answer! Thanks all!!

If your baby is breastfed, he needs to nurse 6 to 8 times a day. If he is on formula he needs 24 to 32 oz of formula a day. This provides all of his nutrition. Solids are just for fun and practice right now. They will play a bigger role at twelve months.

the print version of the magazine has a great nutrition article every month on what kids need, and the website probably has them too. Anything by the Dr. Sears family would be good. He has a book on raising healthy, active kids so I would start with that one.

my mother in law gave me this great book called First meals by annabel karmel. It has recipies for up until they are 7 years old. it is a wonderful book. it has recipies for everything. even ones that the whole family can enjoy. it is kid tested and nutrition facts by each recipies and even has the nutrition label showing how much of whatever is in the meals like fats and calories and vitamins. alos it has reciepies and ideas on how to make your own baby food. It has become my bible for my picky eater. he is 4 years old. i have a 3 month old now nad i can not wait to start trying the baby food recipies. anyway try that book i swear by it.
Also i read one suggestion and they said solids dont play a big role until twelve months. okay my doctor told me to start solids at 4-6 months. milk is great but with a growing appatite they need solids. i dont believe that it is for fun and practice. sorry to the other person. i think they need to do a little research.

This is my favorite website for baby foods and information. It shows great recipes for every stage and has loads of nutrional information.
